Vermont Backyard Elopement | Covid Friendly Wedding
oh man. This covid friendly backyard elopement is a beautiful story and was the most soul-filling day! We were so honored to not only shoot this wedding and celebrate with these dear friends but also host the wedding in OUR BACKYARD!
Josh and Arielle were planning on getting married on May 24, 2020, but like many, due to Covid-19 they had to move the wedding. When chatting to them about these changes, they shared that they were going to go ahead and plan on a larger wedding celebration next year but they were hoping to recite vows and maybe walk around Burlington to take a few photos, a low key response to the exhaustion of Covid and the priority of wanting to say the dang vows and get MARRIED. I totally get it.
The morning of the new wedding date, on the phone with Arielle, her and Josh were frantically trying to move out of their house before they wanted to say their vows but were still unsure of where to host a few friends and have their rabbi zoom in to make it official!
Ben and I truly had nothing going on that day and with such a heavy few months, we were ready to celebrate SOMETHING so we mentioned having it in our backyard! We had chairs, we had a cute rug, we had wifi, and our landlady’s beautiful garden… what else did we need? She immediately screamed, said yes, and then hung up the phone to finish cleaning their apartment. Amazing.
It was beautiful. Their closest friends were in attendance, the ceremony had everyone in tears, we walked around downtown Burlington for some photos and came back to the backyard to celebrate with Folino’s Pizza, Conehead Beers and telling stories of their lives together.
Covid has turned the world upside down and some days are heavier than others but to receive a day that shines light in the darkness, hear promises made and collectively celebrate together, our souls were filled to the brim.
Enjoy looking through this beautiful wedding.
